Ive mistakenly seasoned my cast iron tea pot help please?

after seasoning it (because it had gone rusty) with sunflower oil ,which i thought was tasteless,it has an awful taste.What can I do to remove the oil film.I have since learned that all i needed to do was brew lots of strong tea in it that would have solved the rust problem.any help or advice ?
