Want todo M.Tech in VLSI & embedded electronics.What electonic area should i take for B.tech instrum or commu?

Well I have two options for B.tech electronic & communication and electronic & instrumentation.My ultimate aim is M.tech in VLSI design & embedded electronics. Is VLSI design & embedded electronics accessible by both the branches or is it only accessible via electronic & instrumentation or vice versa.need answer urgently
