Weapons in the military?

I'm 18 and i was wondering when you join the army or any branch in the military, after training, ect. do they give you a gun to carry around? or something, cause i thought you had to be atleast 21 to carry a gun? and since your in the military, do they give you a license to carry a deadly weapon?
