Would this be offensive or ungodly?

I am not of Jewish faith, but I've been wanting to try to make Challah. I'm obviously not doing it for religious purposes nor to offend anyone; I'm just doing it for fun. Is it highly sacred or would it be considered tasteless to make it just for the sake of making it? I may be over-paranoid but I don't want to be rude by making it for an unintended purpose...
