Should I report a child to CPS for nearly committing suicide?

He works in a restaurant with me. He's 16. This is his part time job. Well, yesterday he prepares some awesome chicken dish that some tasteless old man didn't like so he started yelling at him and insulting him about how horrible he was and It made him really offended. He got so upset that he took him steak knife and deeply sliced open his thigh. I didn't realize how badly he hurt himself until I saw something red flying through the air. It was blood. He was dying. He must have severed something big in there. I didn't know what to do but my co-shef sure did. I held the kid down and the other guy put his fingers in the gash and pinched off the bleeding. He's in the hospital now but I'm really worried about him. Should I call CPS? How will they help him?
