Did I do the right thing with this fledgeling?

Ok so earlier today my sisters found a baby bird flapping around the front yard, but it had all it's feathers, after doing some searching I discovered this bird was a fledgling and that it was supposed to be outside the nest, so I took the bird to the front yard where we found it and set it on a low hanging bush branch, he's still out there on the branch, chirping up a storm. Did I do the correct thing?
